Gunmen killed some people near the border of Sokoto state
Some towns in Nigeria are still being attacked, especially those who live in places where bandits are a problem. This comes after robbers attacked some towns in Sokoto state's Illela local government, where they killed a lot of people and stole a lot of animals.
After the attack in Tangaza town, Sokoto state, that killed more than thirty people, there were reports of more attacks in Gwadabawa, Wurno, and Isa, all in the east of Sokoto state.
The attack on some communities in Illela local government, which is next to the Republic of Niger, was the one that caught people's attention. It stopped travel on the roads from Sokoto to Illela and cost lives and public property.
A man from Illela said that the trouble began when robbers attacked the town of Tozai and killed a woman there.
Muhammad Ibrahim Garu, who lives in the town of Garu, said that the thieves killed eight people on the first day and found the bodies of two more the next morning.
But later, the thieves were not happy. As a result of the exchange of fire and with the help of the security forces, they were able to catch five people, even though they caused damage in the town of Garu, according to a resident of Illela.
Ahmad Rufa'i, who is the acting spokesman for the Nigerian Police Force in Sokoto, confirmed the incident. He said that a big group of thieves broke into Garu town and chased the people's animals.
Rufa'i said that when the people of the town chased them, they attacked them until they killed four people. But the security forces moved quickly and caught six gunmen and two bikes.
This is happening at the same time that the new government of Sokoto state has said it will do everything it can to stop bandits. It has even started to look into the problems that are making it hard to fight bandits and find ways to fix them.
Abubakar Bawa, who works for the governor of Sokoto state, said that after their plan to help the security forces on the ground, they will use the security forces to work with the government.
Now, the main hope of the people in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, as well as other places where there is a lack of security, is that there will be a way to fix the problems that are making life hard for them and stopping the areas from growing.
